Our Approach
Designed around the family as a whole
A family trip should not feel like moving a small household from one reservation to the next. It should feel like arriving in Europe and having time for one another.
We welcome families from around the world to Vienna, across Austria and throughout our European destinations. Our job is not simply to add a few child-friendly stops to an adult itinerary. We design the journey around the family as a whole: the ages of the children, what makes them curious, how much movement they need, what the parents want to see, the pace that feels right, and the small practical details that can decide whether a day feels effortless or exhausting.
Europe is wonderfully suited to family travel when it is planned properly. Palaces, museums, concert halls, lakes, mountains, parks and cultural institutions in many of our destinations offer dedicated children's programs, interactive exhibitions, workshops, sports and educational experiences. We connect those possibilities into one journey — rather than leaving you to research, reserve and coordinate them one by one.
Parallel Experiences
One destination. Different experiences. One family day.
The best family itinerary does not require everyone to enjoy exactly the same thing at exactly the same moment. Sometimes the most thoughtful solution is to create parallel experiences and bring the family back together afterwards.
Imagine Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna. While the parents discover the imperial State Rooms and the history of the Habsburgs, the children can enter their own imperial world at the Children's Museum: learning how imperial children lived, playing with objects from the past and dressing as a prince or princess. Afterwards, the family meets again in the gardens — with everyone having experienced Schönbrunn in a way that made sense to them.
The same principle can shape an afternoon at a museum, a concert, a culinary experience or a day in the countryside. A child may need to touch, build, run, paint, perform or play while an adult wants context, beauty and time to look. We do not see those needs as competing. We design around both.
The People
The people behind the family experience
Depending on the journey and your family's needs, our network can bring together far more than drivers and traditional tour guides. We can arrange experienced babysitters and child-minders, activity leaders and motivators, sports instructors, specialist guides and curators of experiences. The goal is always the same: children should be engaged and safe, while parents remain free to enjoy the destination.
Education is part of the experience, but it should never feel like school on holiday. Our guides translate history, art, music, nature and local life into stories, questions and experiences that work for different ages. Parents receive the depth they came for; children get something they can participate in and remember.
Vienna with Children
Vienna with children — culture that children can actually enter
Vienna is one of our favourite cities for families because culture here does not have to mean asking children to stay quiet for hours. Many institutions offer dedicated family formats, interactive programs and creative workshops.
01
Imperial for a Morning
Become imperial for a morning at Schönbrunn, combining the palace and gardens with the Children's Museum, maze, playground or zoo according to age and season.
02
Art Children Can Make
Turn art into something children can make themselves through family programs and creative studios at selected Viennese museums.
03
Sound & Music
Explore sound and music through interactive experiences, then connect it with a concert, a private musical encounter or Vienna's classical-music story.
04
A Playful Historic Centre
Mix the historic centre with something playful: the Prater, the Giant Ferris Wheel, a park, an interactive attraction or an ice-cream stop at exactly the right moment.
05
On & Around the Danube
Spend time on and around the Danube: boating, cycling, swimming or outdoor activities can give children the movement they need between cultural experiences.
06
Animals, Nature & Science
Discover animals, nature and science through Schönbrunn Zoo, the Natural History Museum, the Technical Museum and other age-appropriate institutions.
Beyond Vienna
Austria becomes the playground
Beyond Vienna, family travel opens up even further. Austria lets us combine culture with space, fresh air and movement — often within the same journey.
01
Family Hikes & Mountain Lifts
Easy family hikes, mountain lifts and panoramic walks adapted to the children's ages and the family's fitness level.
02
Lake Days
Lake days with swimming, boating or relaxed time by the water in Austria's lake regions.
03
Outdoor Adventure
Cycling, summer tobogganing, climbing, rafting and other outdoor adventures with suitable professional providers.
04
Alpine Farms & Animals
Alpine farms, animal encounters, regional producers and hands-on experiences that make local life understandable to children.
05
Winter Journeys
Winter journeys with skiing, sledding, snow experiences and warm stops planned around the family's rhythm rather than an exhausting checklist.
06
A Slower Countryside Day
A slower countryside day after Vienna — because sometimes the best family luxury is space, nature and nothing that needs to be rushed.
Across Europe
And across our European destinations
The idea travels with you. In Prague, children can encounter castles, boats, parks, traditional toys and cultural programs designed for younger visitors. In Budapest, a city day can be balanced with the Danube, parks, interactive experiences and family time. In Kraków and other Central European destinations, we adapt history and culture to the ages of the children and combine them with outdoor, creative and lighter experiences. On multi-city journeys, we deliberately change the rhythm from destination to destination so that the trip continues to feel exciting rather than repetitive.
For families travelling to explore Jewish heritage, ancestry or family history, we can also design the journey with particular sensitivity. Adults may want deeper historical context or archival and heritage visits, while younger family members need age-appropriate storytelling, breaks and experiences that keep the journey emotionally and physically balanced.
The Difference
What we do differently
01
We plan for the family, not for an imaginary 'average child'. Ages, interests, energy levels, dietary needs, mobility and family dynamics shape the itinerary.
02
We create parallel experiences when that makes the day better. Parents do not have to miss the things they travelled to Europe to see simply because a child needs a different format.
03
We build in movement. A museum can be followed by a park; a palace by a maze; a city morning by boating, cycling, swimming or time outdoors.
04
We think about the in-between moments: realistic transfer times, toilets, breaks, weather, queues, meal timing and where a tired child can reset.
05
We keep practical family needs in mind and can plan appropriate snacks and refreshment stops along the way, taking allergies and dietary requirements into account when communicated in advance.
06
We choose accommodations for the actual family: suitable room configurations, connecting rooms or apartments where appropriate, useful locations and the level of service the parents expect.
07
We prepare alternatives. Rain, heat, tiredness or a sudden change of mood should not destroy the day; good family travel needs a Plan B.
08
We curate rather than overload. More activities do not automatically create a better holiday. We leave room for spontaneity, rest and simply being together.
09
You have one team coordinating the journey. Hotels, transfers, guides, activities, reservations and special requests can be brought together instead of becoming the parents' second job.
The Little Things
The little things are part of the luxury
Family luxury is not only a beautiful hotel or a private vehicle. It is knowing that somebody has already thought about the next two hours.
Is there a snack before the museum? Is the restaurant realistic with children? Is there enough time between the train and the activity? Does today's program still work if it rains? Does the child need a playground before dinner? Would a babysitter give the parents one quiet evening together? Can a guide turn a historical site into a story rather than a lecture?
Those questions are part of our planning. The result is a journey that feels lighter: fewer decisions on the road, fewer unnecessary bookings, less wasted time and a schedule that has been designed to work in real life.
From the First Conversation
Hassle-free from the first conversation
Every family journey starts with a conversation. Tell us who is travelling, the children's ages, what everyone loves, what nobody wants to do, your preferred hotel level, pace, dietary requirements and the experiences that would make the trip special.
We then build the journey around you — from a private family day in Vienna to a complete multi-generation holiday across Austria and Central Europe. Because we coordinate the pieces together, we can avoid unnecessary duplication, choose combinations that make logistical sense and protect the most valuable thing you have on holiday: your time.
Every Journey, Family-Ready
Every konosua.trvl journey can become a family journey
You do not have to choose a trip labelled 'family' to travel with us as a family. All of our private journeys can be individualized and adapted to become family-friendly — from city breaks and cultural journeys to Jewish heritage travel, ancestry journeys, nature escapes and multi-country itineraries.
And for families who want the entire experience built around children from the beginning, we create dedicated family journeys with family-suitable accommodation, age-appropriate activities, thoughtful pacing and the right local support.
